We Need To Pick Up At Home

Davis looking to put three straight home defeats behind us

After Saturday’s 2-1 win over Colchester United, Steve Davis is hoping to see his side get back to winning ways at Gresty Road this evening. Crewe host promotion hopefuls Sheffield United hoping to end an uncharacteristic run of three home defeats on the bounce. Crewe have recently lost to Bournemouth, Coventry in the second leg of the Johnstone’s Paint Northern Final and struggling Portsmouth, and Davis says it is time his side became difficult to beat on our home patch again.

Ahead of the visit of the Blades, Steve told crewealex.net: “It will be a tough game against Sheffield United because they are arguably the biggest club in the league and many people’s favourites for promotion.

“Our home form has slipped recently and we have lost three in succession, so we need to put that right as soon as possible. Before those three defeats our home form has been relatively good and Gresty Road had become a difficult place to come for visiting teams.

“Our home results have been good for most of the season and now we have three home games coming up, so it is the perfect chance for us to get back to winning ways and get some points.

“It is always nice to play in front our home fans and we need them firmly behind us against a strong Sheffield United side. We need the supporters with us with the challenges we have ahead of us.”
