Steve says players will keep pushing towards top half

Steve Davis, the Crewe Alexandra manager is pleased that his side have accomplished the first target of 50 points but he wants his players to push on and finish as high as they can. Crewe’s 2-1 win at Colchester United on Saturday saw us bounce back from two successive defeats and we trail sixth placed Brentford by 11 points. With three home games in a week coming up, the Alex boss is hoping that a consistent run can claw us back into contention.

Ahead of this evening’s home match with Sheffield United, the Alex manager told crewealex.net: “There are still plenty of games and points to go for and whilst that is the case, I will make sure we will keep fighting.

“We will work as hard as we can to get as near to that top six as possible, until it is mathematically important we'll go for it.

“The win at Colchester has given us a lift and it is always a better mood and atmosphere when you at the weekend. The players have been fine and we are looking forward to the Sheffield game and testing ourselves again against one of the top teams.”
