Alex boss proud after 2-1 win over the Dons

Boss Steve Davis heaped praise on his players after Crewe made it three games unbeaten with a 2-1 win over MK Dons. A brace from Mathias Pogba turned the game on its head after the Alex went behind to a Patrick Bamford opener for the Dons.

Davis was proud with the way his side came back from a goal down to win the game and was also full of praise for full-debutants Ryan Colclough and Nathan Ellington. Steve was of course delighted to see Pogba win the game for the Railwaymen.

Speaking after the game, Steve told crewealex.net: "I thought the game was decent. I thought the pitch slowed the game down and slowed them down. But I thought there was some good quality out there.

“It was a tight game. They have bit the post and bar, but we have had chances as well. I thought we played well overall, we had to dig in but it was a good win.

“We showed real grit and determination to come back in the game. But we have got that in us now because we have great belief. Whilst you have great belief in the team you have always got a chance.

“I never write this team off. Who knows what they can do? On their day they can beat anybody and they have shown that as long as they reach a certain level. They reached that level against Shrewsbury, and they reached that level again tonight.”

On Pogba, Steve said: “He has done great for us. I was really frustrated with him in the first half because he kept losing the ball, but he is a constant threat and you always fancy him to get a goal.

“We can play him on any wing, but we put him up there to cause them problems in the final ten minutes and thankfully he has got us the winning goal.”
