Steve Davis says confident Colchester will present tough test

Steve Davis knows that Joe Dunne’s Colchester United side will be looking to keep their improved run going with a home win over his Crewe Alexandra side this weekend. The Alex boss says the Railwaymen will have to perform at the Weston Homes Community Stadium to bounce back from two recent defeats to relegation threatened Hartlepool and Bournemouth.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Colchester have come through a barren spell and had some great results of late. They achieved a draw at Hartlepool on Tuesday night and that is something we didn’t achieve lately, so they will go into the game with some restored confidence that is for sure.

“They are in decent form and we seem to be meeting teams who are in-form of late, such as Hartlepool, but the players are all looking forward to it. It will be a challenge but we are looking to be positive.

“They have pace up front and tricky wingers, but we have good players as well. We have been concentrating on the things we are good at this week.

He added: “We have focussed on improving and our own play and that has been really beneficial. We know that we can play like we are capable of, we are a good side on our day.”
