Steve hoping Alex can get back on track after Saturday's postponed clash

Steve Davis is hoping it will be second time lucky for his Crewe Alexandra side after they made the long journey down to West Sussex to face Crawley yesterday afternoon. The original fixture was postponed on Saturday morning due to a waterlogged pitch and the Alex squad dusted themselves down to make the same trip yesterday in preparation for tonight's game.

Ahead of tonight's re-scheduled match, Steve told crewealex.net: "It was just one of those unfortunate things that can happen. The weather changed and I think they had eight hours of rain during the night. There was a lot of sleet and it was just one of those things when it was called off. It is unfortunate because we had gone down and prepared ourselves mentally for it.

"So we just dusted ourselves down and are down here again, prepared to give it another go. It looks as though the weather is improving and it has dried out a bit. We didn't really have a date available because we are playing in mid-week for the remaining five weeks, so it was good that we could come down a few days later and hopefully complete the fixture.

"It was our only free week and the first available date, so we went for it. You try and play when you can and it has given us a chance to get one or two back with us as well."
