Not Ruled Out Late Loan Move

4 March 2013

Davis says still time to do something before March 28th deadline

Despite two recent defeats to teams in the bottom four of League One, Steve Davis says he has been pleased with his group of players and the way they have adjusted to life in League One. The Alex boss still wants his side to finish as high as they can in League One. The Railwaymen are currently 14 points off a potential play-off spot and although that top six finish looks unlikely, a sustained late run could still change things like last season.

Of course, the standard of teams in League One is a different proposition when it comes to extending unbeaten runs because as we have found in recent weeks any team can spring a result on their day.

Steve has told that he has not totally ruled out bringing in a player on loan before the 28th March deadline.

“There are always surprising results in this league because anyone can beat anyone. It happens every week and it is difficult to predict. We have been on the receiving end of two results like that recently but we know that the bottom clubs can compete with the top clubs. It is that competitive.

“They are all tough games and if we don’t perform then you can expect to get nothing. Everyone has to be in that frame of mind because we can afford to carry anyone.

“I have been pleased with the players and how they have taken to the lead but there is room for improvement. A lot of them can still realise their potential and become more consistent.

“I haven’t ruled out bringing some in on loan before the deadline. A lot can happen and we have a lot of games over the last two months of the season. We might need to bring one or two in to help with the competition and cover in case we have some injuries.

He added: “There is still a bit of time for us to do something and I am not totally ruling it out.”
