Skipper not expected to be out for too long

Speaking after yesterday’s 2-1 win over MK Dons, boss Steve Davis confirmed that the injury Luke Murphy suffered is not as bad as first feared.

The Alex captain was withdrawn early in the second-half with a groin problem, but Davis allayed fears that the skipper’s injury was serious.

Davis told crewealex.net: “Murph just over-stretched when he was running with the ball. Thankfully it had settled down once he got back in the dressing room.

“He has carried his groin over the last few months and has struggled with it. But he has been getting through the games and he seems okay again now.”
