Steve will continue to tinker with forward line
Steve Davis has admitted that he will continue to tinker with his forward players until he establishes a winning formula. The Alex boss has not been able to rely on a regular front two or three all season and has used various players in different positions to try and make his side more clinical in front of goal.
Mathias Pobga has been the club’s most consistent goal scorer, netting 13 goals in his debut season in npower League One.
Ahead of the club’s trip to Colchester this weekend, Steve told us: “We have two disappointing results against clubs in the bottom four and we know that Colchester away will be just as difficult. We want o put things right as quickly as possible and restore some of that belief.
“The group has been good and worked hard all week. They have responded well and picked themselves up.
“We haven’t been clinical enough this season and we rarely score two or three goals in a game, so if we fall a goal or two goals down then it makes things difficult for ourselves. We still need a couple of wins to be safe and that would do us the world of good. If we can go on a little mini-run then that would be great and give us something really positive to take into the final.
“I will keep assessing them and those who are in the side and scoring goals will be in the team. I will keep changing things if needs be to find that winning formula.”
