Davis on Shrews test at Gresty Road
Steve Davis says his Crewe Alexandra side will be face a tough test against Shrewsbury Town this weekend because the vastly experienced Graham Turner has worked hard to find a winning formula.
The Shrews enjoyed a superb 3-2 win away at the MK Dons on Tuesday evening to move them up to 43 points and another positive result at the Alexandra Stadium would give them another huge leap towards safety.
Steve told crewealex.net: “Shrewsbury took a little longer to adjust to the league than we did but they had lost some key players in the summer. They have come strong recently and won four out of eight to move themselves away from the bottom places.
“They had a terrific win at the MK Dons on Tuesday and that is not an easy place to go and get a result.
“Graham (Turner) has great experience and he has swapped things around and tinkered with his system to find a winning formula. It has worked for them and they have worked hard to move away from the bottom places. Graham knows what he is doing and has been here many times before.
“They have hit form at just the right time and have some good players. They have a mix of experience and youth and the loan players have come in and given them an energy boost. They have provided a bit of a lift and they should be okay.
Steve added: “It should be a good crowd. They should bring a few supporters and they are always good games. There is usually not that much between the two sides and they are close affairs but it should be an exciting game.”
