Duke: "More To Come From Me"

Nathan Ellington says his fitness is getting better all the time after making his debut

Crewe Alexandra’s most recent signing Nathan Ellington feels there is still more to come from him after he made a short cameo appearance against Shrewsbury, hitting the crossbar with his first touch, and then helping the club defeat the MK Dons on his full debut.

Ellington operated well alongside match winner Mathias Pogba and AJ Leitch-Smith and although he didn’t score himself, he was just pleased that his International strike partner did and that Crewe picked up all three points. Now the former Wigan man is hoping he will get another chance to show what he can do against Crawley this weekend.

Nathan told the club’s official web-site: “It was nice to make my debut and then my full debut a few days later. It is nice to get a run out but the most important thing about the MK Dons match was that we got the win.

“It was a great three points and that is the main thing. I would have loved to have scored in front of the fans but it wasn’t to be, but Pogs has scored two good goals and we got back to winning games at home.

“I was satisfied with the way things have gone so far, especially on Tuesday as I had played 45 minutes for the Under-21s the day before. I was getting a bit leggy towards the end but that is to be expected with me playing the day before for a half and me not playing at that level of intensity for a while.

“The fitness levels are getting better all the time and with the games coming thick and fast that will only continue to improve. I am happy with the way things are going and there is definitely more to come from me.

“Hopefully, I will get another chance at the weekend but that is up to the manager and there are a lot of good players going for places.”
