Alex boss says Barker's side still outsiders for play-offs

place.thSteve Davis says it should be a really entertaining game against Crawley tomorrow as both clubs will have to embark on a long unbeaten run if they are going to gate-crash the play-off party. Richie Barker’s Crawley are, like ourselves outsiders for a play-off place, but a run now could see a late contender emerge. Crawley are currently one place and one point us in 14

Steve is a keen admirer and friend of Barker and says that the Crawley boss has introduced an even more attractive style of play. Before heading down to Sussex, the Alex boss told the club’s official web-site: “Crawley changed their manager and Richie has come in and done a really good job. I know Richie and how he likes his teams to play.

“Crawley always try and play good football and I think Richie going in there has made them even more attractive in their style. They play good football. They are fast with it and work hard as a team. They are a good team with good players and that is why they have had a decent season.

“They are in a similar position to us, outside those play-off places but they know that a good run could see them make it. We consider ourselves as outsiders but we will keep going to see how far it can take us.

“There is still a lot of football to be played yet and one or two teams that are in the top places at the moment could still slip away, at this crucial stage of the season. The pressure increases on those teams at the top and sometimes it is that team having that late run that can grab a spot. We did that last season in the league below.”

Davis hints that his side will just go for broke now and try and collect three points rather than one in games. “We will keep fighting until the end of the season. We had a good win against the MK Dons on Tuesday and we are in a position to have a go.

“There is no point settling for a point. We have to try and win every game now, so we will go for it.”
