Chuks And Westy Back

15 March 2013

Crewe boosted by returning duo

Although Bradden Inman will be ruled out for at least another 10 days after having a set-back with his ankle injury, Steve Davis has been boosted the news that both Chuks Aneke and Michael West have successfully come through training this week.

Aneke would have featured for the club’s Under-21s against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday if the pitch had passed an inspection and West has suffered no reaction to his hip flexor problem. Both have trained well this week and are in contention for the visit of Shrewsbury tomorrow.

Steve Davis, the Crewe boss told crewealex.net: “Westy and Chuks are back with us. Westy has looked fine and that is a bonus because before he was injured he was beginning to show positive signs of him adjusting to this level.

“He will be wanting to show more in the remaining games and end the season strongly. He has no reaction in training with us, so he is back with us. It is the same with Chuks. He had a touch of tendinitis in his knee which ruled him out of the Colchester game but he would have been fit enough to be involved against Sheffield United or for the Under-21s.

He added: “I virtually have everyone to choose from, apart from Brad and Jon Guthrie (hernia) so that is what we want at this stage of the season with the amount of fixtures we have coming up.”
