Steve Envisages Working Break

10 June 2013

Steve Davis says he could well sign players whilst he is away on holiday

Steve Davis departs for his summer holiday but says he won’t be surprised that the club will conclude some transfers whilst he is away. The Crewe Alexandra boss is making good progress over potential targets and he remains confident that new faces will be bought in shortly.

Davis has highlighted three possible signings to boost his squad numbers and although he is heading for a break, he still expects to be busy!

Steve told the club’s official web-site:  “I am ready for a break because it has been a long summer after a long season. Neil (Baker) and myself have constantly been on the phone trying to recruit various players. We are making good progress.

“That is the life of a manager and although I am heading on holiday, I know I will be kept busy on the phone. You turn your mobile off for the flight and when you switch it back on you have six or seven messages or missed calls left for you to follow up.

“It doesn’t stop but that is the way it is and you can still get away and relax a bit. I will enjoy it but I would imagine I will be on my mobile around the pool.

“I signed Ellis and Abdul last season when I was in Rhodes so anything can happen. I will be in touch with Neil and chairman John Bowler and if things can be concluded then we would do it.”
