Left-back says League One challenge is what it is all about
Gregor Robertson says it is always an exciting day when the new fixtures are released and with League One appearing to get even tougher following the relegation of Wolves and Bristol City and the promotions of Port Vale, Rotherham and Bradford City, it is something Crewe’s left-back doesn’t want to miss out on.
Gregor told the club’s official web-site: “All the players look forward to the new fixtures coming out. You always look for the bigger clubs and of course with Port Vale coming up into our league that has an extra bit of spice attached to it. Derby games always generate a different atmosphere.
“It is just different from a players’ perspective because we know how much those type of games mean to the fans.
“League One is a tough league and there are a lot of big clubs in there now. When the past you could be looking at one or maybe two really big clubs, there are more like five or six.
“It won’t be unusual to be playing in front of bigger crowds and in big stadiums. I think there was a tinge of disappointment amongst the lads that we were in and around the play-offs last season but never quite got in there.
Gregor added: “I don't see any reason why we can't progress even though it will be tough. A lot of the lads hadn’t even played at L1 last season but they have that experience under their belt now.”
