Steve Phillips says a huge thank you after he completes his London-to-Paris trip

Steve Phillips is on course to break that fantastic £20,000 barrier after completing his 300-mile cycle challenge from London-to-Paris. Phillips was in great form in the seat and in the banter stakes alongside the likes of the former England striker Ian Wright, Geoff Thomas and actor Dean Andrews.

He finished third in his time trial and arrived in Paris with 180 other riders. It was a tremendous feat to raise funding for Leukaemia Research and Caudwell Children and now with one event remaining Phillips is on course to reach his proposed target.

July in the Carlsberg Lounge with the Sway, Tom Seals and special guests from the Paris trip going to be in attendance. Tickets are available now from the Ticket Office priced just £5. Hurry, as this is sure to sell out quickly. thThere will be a closing party on Saturday 27

On his great achievement, Steve told Crewe Alex Player: “It was a great achievement by everybody involved and there are so many people to thank.

“I have to say a special thanks to Scott (Kynnersley) and Simon Lewis for all the support they gave me. They were great company and made it such an enjoyable event. They have been unbelievable and I can only thank all those involved in the charity fundraising events and all those fans and companies who have donated.

“I was delighted to have gone that far and to have registered some reasonable times as well. It is just something I will never forget. When you head towards the Arch de Triomphe with 180 riders, with a police escort and then turn right and see the Eiffel Tower, then I know I am very fortunate. “
