Manager says more irons in the fire as his rebuilding programme continues
Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he still has a number of transfer targets that he would like to bring into South Cheshire before pre-season starts again on June 25th.
The Alex boss departs for a summer holiday later today, but will continue to be kept in the loop alongside his assistant Neil Baker and chairman John Bowler.
Davis, who confirmed the signing of the Lincoln City forward Vadaine Oliver yesterday, continues to make encouraging progress over other possible targets.
Steve told crewealex.net: “Neil (Baker) will be back soon to follow things up. We have put a lot of ground work in behind the scenes and hopefully we will see the fruition with that.
“We have managed to get one in (Oliver) and we are not too far away on one or two others. There are plenty of irons in the fire and we just have to keep on progressing.
“Some of the players are still away on their holidays and have contracts at their present clubs, so it is still slow.”
