Adam Dugdale says he is looking forward to be involved in some big games next season

Crewe Alexandra defender Adam Dugdale says he is looking forward to getting stuck into a tough League One next season. Dugdale has this week spoken openly and emotionally about his personal loss that understandably prematurely ended last season, but the Liverpool-born centre-half is using that positive energy to break into Steve Davis’ stating XI on a more regular basis.

Dugdale told the club’s official web-site: “I want to focus on playing and getting in the team and being more of a regular which I didn’t do enough last year.

“I want to channel all my energy positively and show the fans I am a good player and I can play week in, week out.

“We probably took a few teams by surprise but now we have experience and we'd like to try to get higher.

“It'll probably be harder, with the teams coming down from the Championship and the likes of Bradford and Port Vale coming up.

“But we won't fear anyone this is why you want to play as high as you can and I think we will do alright.

Duggy added: “Actions speak louder than words. I can sit here and say I'll be in the team but I just have to get fit and when I get an opportunity, take it. Harry and Mark did well last year and I should have put more pressure on them.

“I can't wait to get started. I know I can do it.”
