Ryan Colclough says pre-season matches offers a clean-slate to everyone
Ryan Colclough is hoping to push his claim for a more regular role in Steve Davis’ starting XI with some consistent performances in pre-season. The promising 18-year-old winger/forward made 21 appearances last season, scoring his first senior goal against Bournemouth back in January.
Manager Steve Davis has only this week highlighted his promise and has predicted a bright future for the Potteries based teenager.
Ahead of the club’s pre-season campaign which kicks off with a behind closed door match with Celtic, Ryan told us: “The season kicks off earlier than usual this season on August 3rd, so it has been important to come in during the summer and work on our fitness.
“There are a number of pre-season games coming up, so that gives everyone a chance to stake their claim. I want to be fully fit and ready to take my opportunity, because it is a new season and a clean slate.
“You want to play well in the friendly games so you can get into the managers plans. I surprised myself with the number of games I managed to play last season but now I want to push on and become more of a regular. “
