Oliver eager to improve following his switch from Lincoln

Crewe Alexandra’s first major signing of the summer Vadaine Oliver says he elected to move to South Cheshire purely for football reasons. Oliver was quick to sign a two-year deal with the Railwaymen after catching the eye with Lincoln City.

Following his release from Sheffield Wednesday, Oliver, 21, resurrected his career at Sincil Bank scoring 14 goals and helping save the Imps from a further relegation.

Oliver told Crewe Alex Player: “I was buzzing to sign for Crewe because it is a club that is known for giving young players an opportunity. I couldn’t turn down the chance to come here.

“Coming to Crewe and what they stand for was the massive attraction for me. It wasn’t about moving to League One for the money, it was never about that. It is about me becoming a better player, a better all-round forward and enhancing my career.

“Crewe has always been a great club for developing young players and making them better, so they go on to bigger and better things.

“Now it is up myself to learn and keep on improving. There are things I can work on and I know I will become a better player here at Crewe.”
