Bakes Disappointed To Miss Out

Assistant manager disappointed to miss out on Hlyton and Clucas

Neil Baker has told the club’s official web-site of his disappointment in missing out of transfer targets Danny Hylton and Sam Clucas. Both have elected to go elsewhere and after successfully bringing Vadaine Oliver to the club Baker has stressed that the club will just move on to fresh targets.

Neil told the club’s official web-site: “We made Danny an offer which was the best we could offer him and he went away to think about it. When I didn’t hear anything back from his agent, it became unlikely that he was coming to Crewe.

“He has had other offers and we have looked to miss out on him. We have liked Danny for a while. He can play through the middle or out wide and he would have suited us. We cannot be too disappointed and just have to move on.

“Sam is a player we have watched for a while and I think he has agreed to join Mansfield. We thought we were close with him but until they actually put-pen-to-paper you know that their agent will be touting them around looking for a better offer. It goes on and that is Sam’s prerogative and we will see if he has made the right decision.

“My phone has been busy when I’ve been away in Mexico and things are starting to move a bit more now. We have one or two targets in mind and we are always fielding calls offering players to us, so we move on."
