Steve Davis says philosophy of our play won't change depsite Murph losss
Steve Davis says he is looking to build real competition within his squad and that he is after real quality, pace and power from his athletic side. The Crewe boss says the passing philosophy of the club will not alter, having seen many of the first-team squad taught the essence of possession football throughout their grounding in the club’s renowned Academy.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We might have to play a little bit differently in midfield because we have lost Luke Murphy and he is not easily replaceable. We were delighted to have got Anthony Grant in but he has his own qualities and may have to adapt to a different role.
“I looked at Brentford at last season and was impressed with how athletic, quick and strong they were. They also had some quality in their team as well. I thought they were the best side we faced last season.
“I would like to bring that to our group, that real athleticism and pace. I think we have that with the likes of Max Clayton, Coco, Vadaine and Byron. They are all athletic but they can play as well.
“I think we have good technical players with a lot of ability and it is just about them being creative in the final third. The philosophy won’t change, I still want us to pass the ball and play the style of football we are famous for. That won’t change.”
