Baker says Max right to throw him some dirty looks...
Neil Baker has told the club’s official web-site that young striker Max Clayton once again gave a timely reminder on why he should be starting the season in the team with two superb finishes at Stafford last night.
Clayton, who also hit a splendid hat-trick at Newcastle Town has now scored six goals in pre-season and Baker says the England Youth International has shown who the top man is.
Following the 2-1 win over Stafford, Baker said: “I have been a bit hard on Max because I missed his three goals at Newcastle and I’ve been saying that I would play Vadaine and AJ up there if they were fit.
“That has got him going a bit and he has shown me a few dirty looks but he gave us a timely reminder on why he is the top man. He took two super goals and could have had a third but for a good save from the goalkeeper.
“He is always lively and works hard. He perhaps runs around too much for my liking and tries to link up too much, but his attitude on and off the pitch is first class. I would much rather have the job of calming them down rather than trying to get them going and make them run around that is for sure.
Baker added: “Max will become a very good player because he works hard and is an accomplished finisher. When he gets in you expect him to score and I have no doubts that he is going to go on and become a very good player in the future.”
