Gregor Robertson has stepped up his return by re-joining training

Crewe Alexandra left-back Gregor Robertson has stepped up his return to full fitness by re-joining first team training. The former Chesterfield and Nottingham Forest defender missed the tail end of last season after injuring his Achilles away at Crawley in March, forcing him to miss the Johsntone's Paint Trophy final again.

Centre-half Harry Davis (dead leg) has also successfully returned to training and is in contention for he trip to Chester on Saturday or Stafford Rangers on Tuesday night.

The Alex are also hopeful that strikers AJ Leitch-Smith (groin) and Vadaine Oliver (ankle) will be fit to take part in the forthcoming fixtures.

Steve Davis has warned those players that if they are unable to train over the next couple of weeks then they will not be considered for the opening day of the season.

Steve told the club's official web-site: "The injured players or those carrying knocks will have to come back and get involved if they are to be considered for the start of the season. If they missed two weeks of training then they will need time to et back that lost fitness.  I won't risk someone who hasn't trained in the build up to a game."
