Steve will feshen things up in friendly encounter tonight.
Steve Davis will give other players in his squad a chance to impress and stake a claim to start the season in his starting eleven by changing things around at Stafford Rangers (Kick off 7.45pm) this evening. Davis will give the likes of Kelvin Mellor, Adam Dugdale, a fit-again AJ Leitch-Smith, Gregor Robertson, Michael West and Max Clayton a chance to show their capabilities.
The players were all in for training yesterday (Sunday) following the previous days draw with Chester and Davis was warned his squad that they will be working hard until things are put right.
Davis told the club’s official web-site: “The players will be in every day, and we will be doing extra work in the afternoon until we put things right. That is the way it is and the only way we will improve and do what we need to be done is to be out there working on it. There is plenty to do.
“At Chester, we had too many players doing their own thing and that doesn’t match up with what we want to do as a team. It will come right and this group of played will put things right.
“I will play some different players at Stafford and let’s see if they do better than what we produced at Chester. It wasn’t anything to do with a lack of effort or fitness, but more in the mind and them having their own ideas as how to play.”
