Boss hopeful Molyneux can chip with goals and assists in wake of Murph loss

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis is hopeful that new signing Lee Molyneux will be able to fill some of the void felt by Luke Murphy moving onto Leeds United on Monday.

The Alex boss feels that the influential captain and playmaker will be irreplaceable and has hinted that the Railwaymen may have to devise a new way of playing in midfield, but with Molyneux showing real promise after being converted into a winger at Accrington Stanley, he believes the left footer can ship in with goals and assists.

Steve said after signing Molyneux on a two-year deal: “I’m really pleased we managed to sign Lee. He made a mistake in his past but he is a decent lad and he wants to do well.

“He can score goals; deliver crosses and is excellent at dead ball situations. He has real pedigree but there’s plenty of improvement in him too, and he brings balance to the side with his left-foot.”
