Blackburn Will Be A Stern Test

16 July 2013

Steve looks forward to Rovers test

Blackburn Rovers will certainly be a step up in quality when they arrive in South Cheshire this evening for the club’s first home friendly. Supporters are reminded that kick-off is slightly earlier at 7.30pm and manager Steve Davis expects a tougher encounter against the Championship outfit.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “It has been a tough week for the lads with us cramming in four games in five days. We did that for a reason because we wanted them to get the fitness work in. we pushed them as hard as we could.

“I think we are about right where we are in terms of their fitness. They are all being monitored so we avoid fatigue and possible injuries. Although they are still finding their fitness they know they still have to perform.

“I will put a decent team out and give as many as I can some game time. We want to win games and get into the habit of winning games and I am sure Blackburn will be the same. Their players will be looking to get fit but also to impress the manager to make sure they are in and around the team for the first game.

“Blackburn have some really good players and a strong squad and I’m sure it will be a good game.”
