Steve: "Door Not Shut On Chuks"

Alex boss on the Arsenal midfielder

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says the door is not shut on Chuks Aneke’s loan spell with the Railwaymen. Aneke returned to Arsenal over the weekend after four months with the Alex, but Davis says the 19-year-old may return to South Cheshire.

Aneke will take his time to consider options upon returning to London, and Davis says he would be happy to welcome the creative midfielder back to the Alex.

Steve also revealed to the Clubs Official Website that he will resist the immediate temptation to dip back in to the loan market, as he looks to give his own players an opportunity.

Davis told crewealex.net: “Chuks has gone back to Arsenal to have a think about things. The door isn’t closed and I spoke to his agent yesterday about the situation.

“Chuks and Lauri (Dalla-Valle) going back to the parent clubs has left us two loan shorts at the present time. There is no real rush to do something in January because we can do it in the week after anyway.

“But we have our own players at the moment and have enough competition for players there. Ajay and Max are back now and I am hoping that Michael West and Ryan Colclough can come in to the group a bit more now and start pushing for a place.”
