Steve Davis gives us his reaction from Brisbane Road after deserved point

After the 1-1 draw, Steve told crewealex.net:

Steve Davis was pleased with the end result at Brisbane Road after his Crewe side had to survive an early onslaught from Leyton Orient to stay in touch. The home side hit the woodwork twice and were asking more questions of our goalkeeper Steve Phillips than theirs, but the Railwaymen finished the first half strongly and drew level before the beak thanks to Byron Moore's third of the season. Crewe arguably created the more clear openings in the second half and overall a point was fair. “It was a case of us getting better once we equalised because before that it was just a question of staying in the game. We had a bit of luck with them hitting the woodwork twice and we were not coping very well at the back. We couldn’t keep the ball up the pitch long enough either.

“We certainly rode our luck in that period but once we scored we started to get back into the game and show more confidence. We grew into the game and second half we performed a lot better.

“Maybe we were slightly the better side in the second half but both teams could have snatched the winner, but overall I thought a draw was fair and it was a good point for us.

“We both went for it for the second half and it was fairly open. Russell (Slade) was very positive with his two wingers and I thought Mooney was a threat for them throughout, but we attacked them as well and tried to get in behind them and get them turning.

“We could have been two or three goals down in the first twenty minutes but once we scored we settled down and played some good football.

“Murph produced a quality cross for the goal. We encourage Byron to try and get in at the far post. He has done it once before and scored and has done the same again and scored. We have reached forty points now and that is a good achievement but we have to keep going and improving.”
