Pleased With Festive Return

Manager wants consistent form to continue into the New Year

spot in the table and Davis and his coaching staff were delighted with the progress made over the festive period. thCrewe Alexandra currently top the form table for npower League One after a consistent run of five wins from our last six matches at this level and Steve Davis wants that to continue throughout the New Year. Crewe’s 1-0 win over Carlisle took us into 10

Steve told “The Christmas period was fairly good for us, against some tough opponents. We have come through okay, moved into the top half of the league and have 39 points. That is a good points’ return for this stage of the season but now it is important we push on again.

“We have beaten teams in and around us over the last few weeks and the only set-back was the defeat at Tranmere. I thought we played well in the first half there, not so well in the second half and let them get back into the game.

“I didn’t think there was much in the game and it could have gone either way, but that is the positive we can take from that game. They have been up there all season and I didn’t think there was a lot between the teams.

“We have come through some tough games against Oldham and Carlisle. We have been consistent and that is what you have to be in this league if you want to be successful because every game is tough.

“We haven’t played as well as we would have liked but the important thing to do if we are not at our best is to pick up some points and some wins. That is pleasing as a manager and the players deserve credit for that.

The manager added: “It would be nice to get to that 50 point mark as soon as we can because it does take the pressure off. It is nice to know you have those points in the bag, if you do go on a bad run and that can happen because it is difficult and blips will happen.”
