Mellor: "Got To Get Going Again."

7 January 2013

Full-back Kelvin Mellor says Alex are more than capable of bouncing back at Orient

Kelvin Mellor says the players were left disappointed after Stevenage inflicted a first home defeat in five matches with a 2-1 win at the Alexandra Stadium. Gary Smith’s side came from behind to claim all three points after a recalled Chuks Aneke had given us a deserved first-half lead.

After a rare home defeat for the Alex, Mellor told Crewe Alex Player: “The lads are disappointed to have lost the game because for large parts of the game we thought we were the better team.

“You can play well in this league and get nothing and that is what happened to us. It was cruel to lose it but all we can do is pick ourselves up and concentrate on the next game at Leyton Orient.

“We have been a really good run, especially at home, so I am sure the fans have been pleased and have remained right behind us.”

Mellor has only recently displaced Gregor Robertson after overcoming a knee injury but he feels that he has now regained his overall match sharpness.

He added: “I do feel fitter now and I’ve had to because it is a step up at this level. We have shown that we can compete against some big sides in this league and just have to keep going like we were.

“There are no easy games and going to Leyton Orient will be no different, but we will be looking to bounce back and get that win.”
