Baker says defender has been model pro since losing his place
Neil Baker has praised the professionalism and attitude of Mark Ellis after playing the former Torquay United defender in an Under-21 fixture at Sheffield United on Monday. Ellis has recently lost his place in the first-team, as Steve Davis has re-united Harry Davis with Adam Dugdale again.
Baker has told the club’s official web-site that there is not too much to choose between the three senior centre-halves at the club and stresses that the ones that make the fewest mistakes will retain the shirts.
Bakes told the club’s official web-site: “The competition is good at centre-half. We have three good centre-halves and there is very little between them. They have all played well at various stages this season and they have also made mistakes. It is those mistakes that we are always trying to eradicate.
“Mark is the one out of the side at the moment but his attitude has been very good. He got on with it and was exceptional for us at Sheffield. He is a model professional. He prepares the right way and led by example.
“He is a warrior and the supporters can see that and appreciate that. He can make mistakes as well, like all of them, and that is what we are trying to improve on.”
