Could Freshen Things Up

Boss says he could change a winning team after busy festive period

Crewe Alexandra are preparing for their second game of 2013 with a virtually fit squad to choose from. Youngsters Oliver Turton and Brendon Daniels have returned to training after recent slight injuries and the club’ current number one Steve Phillips is expected to retain his place after overcoming a slight knock sustained in the 1-0 win over Carlisle on Boxing Day.

That is not to say that manager Steve Davis is not prepared to make a change to his starting XI. The Alex boss has hinted at making a ‘change or two’ to freshen things up for the visit of Stevenage this weekend.

It is just a question of monitoring them to make sure that they are not fatigued.  Steve told the club’s official web-site: “The treatment is looking very good and we have managed to get through a busy spell of fixtures in good shape.

“We could tinker with it and have tinkered with it. I will assess the players and could make one or two changes to freshen things up if we have to. I’ve said to the players that it is up to them to give me a selection headache every week and the way they can do that is through their performances in training.”
