Neil Baker says Laws' Scunthorpe will be dangerous opponent

Brian Laws’ Scunthorpe United side arrive in South Cheshire on Saturday and Neil Baker says that the Iron will be a tough opponent as they will be fighting for every precious point to make sure they are not in the drop zone come the end of the season.

Crewe Alexandra won 2-1 at Glanford Park back in August with AJ Leitch-Smith and Luke Murphy scoring the goals. Baker was honest enough to admit that the Railwaymen were lucky to claim all three points that night against what was then Alan Knill’s side, and he stresses that it will be another tough assignment this weekend.

Bakes told the club’s official web-site:  “Scunthorpe changed their manager from when we went their earlier in the season and the results have been mixed. They have been up and down and that is why they are in the bottom places at the moment. They can win one and then lose one but we know that on their day they can compete with anyone at this level.

“That is how it is most weeks for us and we have to play well to get results against any of them. You only have to see the performances of Oldham, Brentford and MK Dons in the FA Cup last week to see how competitive and tough this league can be. Those results were no fluke.

He added: “We won at their ground very early in the season and in truth we were lucky to win the game. Scunthorpe were excellent in the first half and could have been out of sight but we remained in the game and grew in stature second half.”
