Defender commits his future until 2015
Matt Tootle has extended his contract at Crewe Alexandra to take him through to the summer of 2015. The defender signed his new deal after training this afternoon as a reward for establishing himself as a key member of Steve Davis’ first-team squad. Tootle, 22 has amassed 145 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring twice and has played in various positions in both defence and midfield. He is currently the club’s left-back.
Steve Davis is delighted that the former Academy graduate has committed his future to the club. The Crewe manager told crewealex.net: “I am pleased that Matt has signed. He got left behind a bit financially when we signed the others, so we offered him a better deal and he has signed it very quickly.
“I am very pleased that he wanted to stay with us and that he wants to remain here for the foreseeable future. You want to try to keep the nucleus of the squad together, the backbone in place. It is great for both parties.”
