Crewe youngsters to sign new contracts with the club
Defenders Matt Tootle and Harry Davis are set to sign new and improved contracts with the club. Manager Steve Davis has moved to bring his two youngsters into line financially with other first-team players and the Academy graduates have quickly accepted the new terms and signed a year extension on top, taking them through to the summer of 2015.
Steve revealed to the club’s official web-site: “Both Matt and Harry have agreed to the extension and that is only good news for us. When you are trying to build a nucleus of a team it is important to have those players that have been a big part of things here as long as possible.
“They will sign their improved deals later today. They were a bit behind in the financial stakes, so we have rewarded them for their progress and brought them in closer with some of the others.
“The two lads were only too pleased to accept and have signed a one-year extension on top of the contracts they already have in place. They want to remain here and be a part of something and that is great news for us.
“We will be talking to a few more as well, and it is important that our young players keep on improving and developing. “
