Alex boss left fuming after 3-0 defeat

Boss Steve Davis was left an angry man after Crewe Alexandra were soundly beaten 3-0 by Hartlepool United on a disappointing night for the Alex in the North East.

Crewe conceded two first-half goals and United added a third in stoppage time to round of a poor night for the Railwaymen.

Speaking after the game, Davis was quick to praise Hartlepool, but was fuming about his teams display.

Steve told crewealex.net: "There were some real disappointing performances for us tonight. We played well below what we are capable off and got what we deserved.

"Credit must go to Hartlepool because they really worked hard and stifled our play. We couldn't really get going because they stopped us playing.

"But coming to Hartlepool is a difficult task in any circumstances, and we made it even harder for ourselves tonight.

"All of their goals have come from mistakes in our play and we made some very poor decisions throughout the game. Once they scored their first goal we went backwards and couldn't get ourselves in to the game.

"It is a really disappointing night. All of the players were poor and didn't do enough tonight. There is a whole of host of things I could talk about tonight and fortunately we haven't got all night to talk about it."
