Steve Phillips thanks those fans who have helped organise a bucket collect for tonight
There will be a pre-match collection at the match this evening with all proceeds going to Steve Phillips’ charity fundraising for Caudwell Children and Leukaemia Research. As you may be aware, Steve is raising money for both charities ahead of his London-to-Paris cycle ride in June.
Steve asked for 20 volunteers to help out with the bucket collection and the response was magnificent once again. The Alex number one has praised the fund raising powers of the Crewe support and has personally thanked the Coventry fans for their support as well via Twitter.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I couldn’t believe it when the club offered me the chance to do a ground collection for one of the biggest gates we have had in a while. It was a great gesture and will give us another opportunity to raise a few quid for the charities, ‘Steve told the match day magazine.
“I needed 20 volunteers to help and I can tell you that wining 30 seconds they had all come forward on Twitter. I am not surprised because the people of Crewe have been absolutely magnificent.
“I would also like to thank the Coventry fans because they have been brilliant as well. They have sent some kind messages on Twitter and I’m sure they have found some coins to throw in because they are a great club with a great support. “
You can also purchase a Paris-To-London bike ride pin badge for £3 from the club shop with all proceeds going to the two charities. There are also signed Nick Powell prints (£10) and signed Alex play-off squad print (£25) available in the club shop for the charity fund.
