Steve Davis says his team go into Coventry clash with confidence

Steve Davis, the Crewe Alexandra manager, says that Wednesday night’s second leg tie against Coventry City in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy is something for everyone to look forward to. The Railwaymen take a 3-0 advantage into the tie, but Davis and his players are certainly not taking anything for granted. They know they still have a lot of work to do to see the job through.

Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he has been encouraged by his side’s last two performances against Notts County and Bournemouth, although we have collected just a point for our efforts.

Steve told crewealex.net: “There have been plenty of positives to take from the last two performances. The performances are getting there and all that has been missing has been the three points. Perhaps we have deserved more from the way we have played. I certainly thought that the case against Bournemouth and we had enough chances in the first half at Notts. County to have won that game.

“I’ve told the players not to be too disappointed because they are giving their all and the performances have been encouraging. Now we move onto the next one which is Coventry on Wednesday night.

“The Bournemouth game has gone now and the decisions that went with that. That can happen in football.

He added: “Now we have the chance to see the job through. If we can keep our concentration and play as well as we have done in the last few weeks then we have a chance of progressing. It is the same for our remaining league games.”
