Ellington scores but Crewe suffer defeat

Crewe Alexandra’s U21 side have this afternoon suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Coventry City.

A strong Crewe side that featured the likes of Ryan Colclough, Max Clayton, Byron Moore, Harry Davis and Alan Martin trailed 1-0 half time, but trialist Nathan Ellington followed in a powerful Michael West free-kick to bring the Railwaymen level.

Crewe missed several decent chances to win the game, and were made to pay for those misses when Coventry grabbed a stoppage time winner.
