Steve Davis says away contingent helped give us advantage in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy
Steve Davis has praised the club’s travelling away following after they helped inspire Crewe to a 3-0 win at Coventry City last night in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy. The Alex boss appreciates that it is only job half done, but he was quick to praise the away contingent at the Ricoh Arena. Crewe scored three second half goals at their end of the stadium and the 1,472 Alex fans certainly made some noise of their own in the midst of a crowd of 31,054.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “There is still a long way to go in the tie and I have been in this game long enough to know that anything can happen. It was a good away performance but we still have a lot to do in the home game.
“Our fans were terrific and they really got behind the team amongst a partisan crowd. It is not easy to out shout a crowd of 30,000 home fans but we heard them and their support went a long way to helping us get a positive result.
“I just want them to stay with us like they do. I want to give them something to shout about. There a lot of games to go and we want to do as we can in the league. It could be an exciting end to the season so I would just encourage them to keep coming and get behind us in every game. We need them.”
