Steve Davis says his Alex playes have worked their socks off to reach Wembley again...
Steve Davis says a return trip to Wembley Stadium in April is the result of some very hard work by his players and staff. The Alex boss masterminded a 3-2 aggregate victory over a spirited Coventry City to reach the final of the Football League Trophy for the first time in the club’s history.
It turned into an anxious last few minutes at the Alexandra Stadium last night when the Sky Blues netted twice in stoppage time, but the Alex dug in to make it through in the end.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “It is just nice to get through. That is what it was all about. Getting through to another Wembley Final is a result of hard work and that is pleasing. I cannot praise the players and the staff enough. It is great for the club, for the supporters and the people in the background as well.
“We are all pulling together and building some real momentum. We are like an express train at the moment which is hard to stop, but we need to take that into the league because we won’t be settling for anything but our best.”
