Boss says club have to remain cautious with determined Pogba

Steve Davis, the Crewe Alexandra manager says he will remain cautious with striker Mathias Pogba ahead of the buy festive period. The club’s leading scorer last season is eager to get back into action as soon as possible after missing the entire campaign with a knee injury but Davis is adamant that he and his medical staff will make sure the Guinean International is fully fit before he will be considered for selection for the first team.

Pogba, who hit 16 goals last season suffered a serious knee injury against Manchester United in pre-season and needed surgery but he is nearing a return to first-team action after successfully joining in some football based sessions.

Steve explained to crewealex.net: “We haven’t had Mathias all season so we have to be very cautious with him.

“Mathias is very anxious to get back playing and that is good. He is desperate to play and help us and we have got to hold him back a little. He has missed a lot of football and has not been long back with the group.

He added: “He is working hard every day and we will consider him when I know he is 100% fit because we don’t want to lose him through a pulled muscle or anything like that because that can happen when a player has been out for a while.”
