Steve will have to select a new goalkeeper and forward
Steve Davis will be forced into a couple of changes for this weekend’s clash against Coventry City. The Alex boss will have to select a new goalkeeper after the on-loan Fulham stopper Neil Etheridge was injured against Crawley. The club are hopeful that the 23-year-old Pilipino International will be able to return to Crewe before his loan agreement expires.
Alan Martin and Ben Garratt are in contention for the number one spot and Davis will decide after today’s final session. The more experienced Steve Phillips has been ruled out with a shoulder injury.
With striker Vadaine Oliver ruled out through suspension, following his harsh red card against Crawley, there is a position available up front with Chuks Aneke and AJ Leitch-Smith vying for the start alongside the on-loan Tom Hitchcock.
Aneke scored the only goal of the game to defeat Crawley, whilst Leitch-Smith was on target for the club’s Under-21s against Nottingham Forest on Monday afternoon.
Ryan Colclough is struggling with an abdominal injury and may not travel while other forwards Mathias Pogba (knee) and Max Clayton (ankle) are definitely ruled out.
Midfielder Oliver Turton is making progress from his knee injury but this particular fixture may have come around too quickly for him.
