Sympathy For Vadaine

Boss on tough week for Alex striker Oliver

Steve Davis says he has the utmost sympathy for Vadaine Oliver after he was sent-off for two bookable offences against Crawley Town. The red card came just days after he had a super overhead kick ‘goal’ chalked off at Carlisle just seconds after our defender Adam Dugdale suffered a head injury!

Oliver will now a one match suspension and will miss our next fixture away at Coventry City. His manager was left perplexed by both yellow cards and even more annoyed when he saw the DVD of the diving incident.

Steve told crewealex.net: “When the whistle went I honestly thought that Vadaine had been fouled and was just trying to see if he had given a penalty or a free-kick. I couldn’t really tell if it was inside or outside the box but there was no doubt in my mind that it wasn’t a foul.

“When he went up to Vadaine and showed him the second yellow card, I was really surprised. I was in shock and I think the majority of the crowd were.

“It has been a very difficult week for him with what happened in both games and now he has to miss the Coventry game. I have nothing but sympathy for him.

“Maybe they should have a look at the rules when it comes to players serving a suspension for two debatable yellow cards. The referee got the decision wrong and we suffered because of it.”
