Steve praises Coventry's start to the season under Steven Pressley

Steve Davis has praised the job his counterpart Steven Pressley has achieved at Coventry City this season. The Sky Blues have had a torrid time of it off the pitch with a ten point deduction for entering administration and the former 1987 FA Cup winners having to play their home games at Northampton’s Sixfields Stadium.

If Coventry had not been docked the ten points, they would have been in the play-off positions heading into the Christmas period.

Davis has been impressed with the club’s determination to work through adversity this season. Ahead of our meeting in Northampton this weekend, Steve told us: “Coventry made a great start to the season and Steven has done a tremendous job under difficult circumstances.

“He has been up for the fight and his players have quickly turned around the ten-point deficit. He has a nice blend of youth and experience in his squad and I think they have done exceptionally well. It hasn’t been easy for them with the 10 points deduction and the fact that they have had to play their home games at Northampton.

“They haven’t got the crowds there like they were used to at the Ricoh Stadium, with a lot of their fans choosing to support them away, so you have to take that into consideration as well.

“The club have adapted to that and Steven deserves credit for that. He is very focussed, ambitious and wants to do well after coming down from Scotland and they have all managed to block out the off field stuff and concentrate on their football. “
