Steve on players' mini pre-season
Steve Davis says his squad would have all benefited from a hard working week of training. The players were in every day last week before granted the weekend off as Davis introduced a mini pre-season of work.
The Alex take on Coventry City at Northampton’s Sixfields Stadium this weekend, aiming to build on a successful 1-0 win over Crawley Town in our last outing.
Ahead of the meeting with the Sky Blues, Steve said: “The players have worked very hard. It was a tough week and they had no days off.
“It was an intense week before we gave them the weekend off. I am sure it would benefitted them and we have introduced the likes of Pogs, Ryan (Colclough) and Ollie (Turton) back into the group.
“We played 11 v 11 on the Friday mainly to see if the things we have gone through in the week could be transferred into a more realistic game situation.
“The players had some intense sessions and there were some positives signs. Now we have to take that into this week and the Coventry game at the weekend.”
