Boss excuses players for their over celebration following Chuks' winner
Steve Davis says he excused his players their joyous celebration after Chuks Aneke headed a deserved winner against Crawley Town on Saturday. Once Aneke had discovered he was on-side, the celebration in the corner went on longer than the Alex manager would have like normally but he accepted it as the Railwaymen ended a run of nine games without a win.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “It was a great header from Chuks. He really stretched his neck muscles to reach it and guide it into the corner. I thought it was a really good goal and a super cross from Toots (Matt Tootle).
“The players really enjoyed the goal and I can accuse them that. I am usually concerned when you over celebrate a bit because how many times do you see a team concede a minute or two after scoring?
“You have to concentrate but I can understand why they celebrated like they did because they were up against it with ten men and haven’t had too much cause to celebrate of late.”
