Players Are Working Hard

4 December 2013

Alex boss hoping hard 10 days will pay off going into the busy Christmas period

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says he will continue to intensify the training sessions in preparation for the second half of the season. Crewe do not have a fixture this week due to their FA Cup exit to Wycombe Wanderers following a replay, so Davis says he will use the free-week to really push his players in readiness for the busy Christmas period.

The Crewe boss told crewealex.net: “The free week gives us a chance to work hard and galvanise everyone.

“It gives the loan lads a chance to get used to things a bit more and things are looking much better.

“I hope when we meet Coventry all the work we will have done will pay off. We are working with greater intensity, we told them to expect a tough week and we will give them the weekend to recover.

“It’s the only time you can do it a mini pre-season. You could do it if any of the games were called off because of the weather and this gives us an opportunity to really step back and assess things.

“The players are fit but we could be fitter, stronger and sharper. It can happen that when a player is out of the team for whatever reason, that can drop but we will need everyone and they have to be ready when we call upon them.”
