Steve Davis says loan players have given us a a timely boost.

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that the loan players Tom Hitchcock, George Evans and winger ‘Mesca’ have provided the desired effect. The Alex boss wanted to introduce some fresh faces and signed Hitchcock from QPR and 'Mesca' from Fulham to go along with City midfielder Evans and season long loan player Chuks Aneke.

 Hitchcock scored his second successive goal against Shrewsbury after ‘Mesca’ had found another loanee Chuks Aneke with a superbly floated cross. Davis says the loan signings have given the squad the necessary boost and inspired others to be better.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I think the loan players have had the desired effect. I wanted them to come in and give us a boost and perhaps provide that spark that we have lacked in the final third.

“I think they have done that and helped us to get some points. They have always given some others a kick up the backside. Those players coming here has made certain individuals work harder and get themselves going.

Steve added: “That has helped us and I think we have put in some really hard working performances, ever seen the Port Vale game really. Now we have to carry that one.”
