Coco still struggling to face Shrews this weekend

This weekend’s home encounter against Shrewsbury Town may be a game too soon for the club’s talented wide man Ryan Colclough. The Staffordshire-born teenager has endured a frustrating time of late with a succession of niggling injuries hampering his return to first team action. It is evident that the Academy graduate has experienced a recent growth spurt and that may explain why he has picked up some slight hamstring and groin problems.

Colclough was on the way back to fitness but had to be withdrawn early on in a recent Under-21 game against Nottingham Forest after complaining of an abdominal injury. The winger has been unable to train, has had discomfort in his stomach and may not be risked against the Shrews this weekend.

It is hoped that the Academy graduate will feature over the festive period with Wolves on Boxing Day and Colchester a few days later.

Crewe will be without Steve Phillips (shoulder), Mathias Pogba (knee), Max Clayton (ankle) and Ollie Turton will not be risked yet after only recently returning from a knee injury.
